EP deleted from Medication Management standards
Accreditation Connection, January 28, 2011
A change to the Elements of Performance (EP) for The Joint Commission’s Medication Management standards was announced this week. The accrediting body approved the removal of EP 10 from standard MM.05.01.01 for its behavioral health care, critical access hospital, home care, hospital and long term care accreditation programs, effective immediately.
According to an official statement by The Joint Commission, this EP has been removed as it is considered redundant with other existing EPs. The Joint Commission believes this requirement is redundant. The organization believes the intent of EP 10 is covered already in EP 9 of standard MM.04.01.01 and EPs 6 and 11 from MM.05.01.01.
