Clarification of informed consent standards

The Joint Commission has added a clarification to stanadrd RC.o2.01.01, EP 4, under the Record of Care, Treatment, and Services Chapter. This clarification is a follow up to a request by CMS on informed consent documentation.
This change effects hospitals and certain critical access hospital units. While the change is effective immediately, it will appear in the first update to Joint Commission manuals in 2011 (due out in March).
