Joint Commission issues reminder of MS.01.01.01 changes
Accreditation Connection, October 8, 2010
The Joint Commission published a brief reminder this week that changes to Medical Staff standard MS.01.01.01, formerly known as MS.1.20, will go into effect as of March 31, 2011.
The reminder is in part because some organizations may need to make extensive changes to their bylaws in order to comply with the standard in its new iteration. The Joint Commission provided just over a year from the date the standards were first made public for hospitals to align with the changes.
The changes affect hospital and critical care hospital programs. Both the current and the revised versions of MS.01.01.01 will be included in Update 2 to the 2010 and 2011 Comprehensive Accreditation Manual for Hospitals (CAMH).
