Joint Commission proposes new and revised lab standards for 2011
Accreditation Connection, September 10, 2010
The Joint Commission has posted new and revised laboratory services standards for 2011 for field review on its main Web site.
The field review will remain open through October 19, 2010 and should the proposed changes receive approval would effective July 1, 2011.
The Joint Commission has made these changes to the standards based on feedback from the field. Some of the changes address flow cytometric analysis, amniotic fluid alpha protein and high performance liquid chromatography and other laboratory functions.
Note: this field review does not include blood transfusion service or blood donor center standards—these will be forthcoming later in September. For more information, click here.
