Joint Commission appoints new Director of Business Excellence

The Joint Commission has announced the appointment of Alex Vandiver, MBB, as director of Business Excellence. Vandiver will also act as director of the Joint Commission Center for Transforming Healthcare.
Vandiver, a Master Black Belt in Lean Six Sigma, will be responsible for leading internal improvement projects making use of his background in Lean Six Sigma and other experience to adddress problems. In his role with the Center for Transforming Healthcare, he will work with the Center’s participants to analyze specific breakdowns in care, discover the underlying causes and develop targeted solutions that solve the challenges the Center is designed to address. Th Joint Commission recently announced the Center’s inaugural project on hand hygiene compliance.
