PC.02.01.05 revisions released
Accreditation Connection, August 27, 2010
PC.02.01.05, element of performance (EP) 2, has been updated in order to meet requirements established in the CMS Conditions of Participation (CoP). The Joint Commission announced revisions to this EP this week in order to comply with CMS requirements because, in order to maintain deeming authority through CMS, Joint Commission standards must be at least as stringent as the CoPs. This rule applies to hospitals and critical access hospitals accredited by The Joint Commission.
These revisions involve the time frame for team conferences–previously they were required once every two weeks, but must now occur once a week. This change must be implemented and enforced by October 1, 2010.
PC.02.01.05 EP 2 requires critical access hospitals to hold team meetings at least once a week in order to assess the appropriateness of the patient’s treatment.
