Joint Commission seeks input on suggested revisions to NPSG on medication reconciliation

Accreditation Connection, April 5, 2010

The Joint Commission is inviting healthcare organizations to comment on the suggested revisions to the National Patient Safety Goal (NPSG) on medication reconciliation, according to an official statement released by the accredition organization. The goal, having been revised after research on implementation challenges, now focuses on critical risk points in the medication reconciliation process.

The public will have until May 11, 2010 to review and comment on the requirements, but the Joint Commission would prefer if all comments were received before April 30, 2010.
