Two National Patient Safety Goals receive minor changes
Accreditation Connection, March 15, 2010
The Joint Commission has made minor changes to two National Patient Safety Goals (NPSG), according to an official statement on their Web site. The changes will be effective immediately and affect the NPSGs for ambulatory care, critical access hospitals, hospitals and office-based surgery organizations. The corrections will appear in the July 2010 update to the e-dition as well as in the printed manual.
NPSG .03.04.01, Element of Performance 3 is one goal receiving minor changes. The phrase "preparation date" is no longer included in the requirement. NPSG.07.03.01, Element of Performance 3 is the second goal to undergo changes, and the word "preparation" was added to the EP.
