Maintain survey readiness: A primer

Once your survey is completed, your work has just begun. You must keep the momentum going and stay focused on continually meeting the Joint Commission requirements. Other forces will vie for attention, such as changes in personnel, the introduction of new services, building renovations, and other competing initiatives, and you play a key role in helping to prevent Joint Commission compliance from being pushed to the back burner.
Monitor your organization’s Strategic Surveillance System (S3) score. Consider adding this score to your organization’s performance dashboard. Because this score contains some of the same elements The Joint Commission utilizes for determining your survey cycle, it behooves the organization to look carefully at the reports.
