The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has issued a 22-page document on Medicare fee-for-service policies and procedures in an H1N1 flu pandemic or other public health emergency or disaster, according to the AHANews website.
The document is broken down into two sections, with the first section focusing on the H1N1 influenza pandemic and the second section focusing on all other emergencies. Each section includes questions and answers as to what CMS will cover on this subject.
Along with H1N1 influenza questions and answers, the document also touches upon flexibilities available in an emergency or disaster, payment and billing policies for various types of healthcare services and providers, and financial management policies.
