CDC releases interim guidance for H1N1 influenza

Accreditation Connection, May 15, 2009

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has issued interim guidance for clinicians treating young children with novel influenza A (H1N1) virus infections, more commonly known as swine flu.

The CDC issued these guidelines because, while little is currently known about the recent outbreak, historically children younger than age 5 have an increased risk of influenza-related complications.

The report discusses treatment, general considerations for the flu in children, and preventative measures. The guidelines can be found online here.
