Joint Commission revises January 5 changes
Accreditation Connection, March 27, 2009
The Joint Commission has announced changes to the 2009 standards revisions originally released January 5, 2009.
After discussions with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), The Joint Commission has reduced the number of changes from the previous total of 165 new and revised Elements of Performance to 87.
According to The Joint Commission’s official announcement, the changes followed discussion with CMS (and The Joint Commission’s deeming authority application) during which it was determined that a number of the requirements were already covered under existing standards or otherwise in the Joint Commission survey process.
A crosswalk between the January and March changes, as well as the complete March changes are available online here.
