MRSA infections rising in children

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has seen an increase in reports of hospital visits by children infected with methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), CNNHealth.com reports.
While the CDC does not have an accurate estimate for the number of cases in children, among the 95,000 people in the U.S. who contracted MRSA in 2005, the largest increase in those reported infections was with patients 18 and younger during an eight-year period.
Physicians are also reporting increased numbers of cases of MRSA in patients, the report states.
