Cameras help rural sites meet med management compliance needs

Medication management compliance is difficult enough, but when you are trying to comply while mixing medications at remote, rural satellite locations, the challenges multiply.
This was the issue that arose when Altru Health System of Grand Forks, ND, looked for methods of complying with MM.05.01.07—and found a way to use video cameras to allow pharmacists to oversee the mixing of medications from many miles away.
MM.05.01.07, which requires that the pharmacy oversee all mixing for compounding, became more challenging this year. Previously a B standard, it has now become an A standard.
