Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, TX, has announced major improvements to its emergency department (ED) procedures following an October, 2008 evaluation by The Joint Commission, the Dallas Morning News reports.
The Joint Commission found 11 deficiencies during its visit, which was precipitated by the death of a 58-year-old man who waited 19 hours for treatment. The hospital’s improvements include a streamlined check-in and evaluation process, and more immediate interaction between patients and healthcare providers.
