Group calls for standardization of patient IDs

The Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) has launched a campaign to push for standardized patient identification cards, iHealthbeat reports.
The MGMA plan would reduce costs by cutting down on administrative efforts, as well as by preventing denied claims. The cards would be machine-readable either by a magnetic strip or barcode.
