HHS releases HAI action plan
Accreditation Connection, January 9, 2009
The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) has released a new action plan for the prevention of healthcare-associated infections (HAI) nationwide. HHS hopes the plan can help to eliminate HAIs over the next five years.
The plan sets goals and specific actions to coordinate HHS-supported efforts for benchmarking recommended clinical practices, coordinating research, and crafting a national message plan.
HHS plans to incorporate public input and recommendations for the plan. Meetings will occur in spring 2009 to allow for public comment on improving the plan. The dates of these meetings will be posted here.
