CMS proposes no longer paying for wrong site, patient, or surgery cases

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) issued several proposed decision memos this month indicating it will not pay for wrong site/patient/surgery cases.
The CMS will accept comments on the proposed changes until January 1, 2009. The National Safety Forum considers these types of incidents serious reportable events.
