The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has extended the deadline for Initial Patient Population and Sampling Data for outpatient encounters in the second quarter of 2008 to November 1.
In order to avoid the risk of losing 2% of their 2009 payment update, hospitals that participate in the outpatient quality reporting initiative are required to submit this data. The original due date for reporting was October 15.
