AHRQ announces PSO approval process
Accreditation Connection, October 10, 2008
The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality has announced guidance for organizations seeking to apply for status as a patient safety organization (PSO).
These guidelines are intended to provide eligibility and certification requirements for such organizations up until the time AHRQ issues final rules for PSO status. A final rule is expected to be released by the end of the year.
PSOs will create a secure environment where healthcare organizations can voluntarily gather and analyze data to work towards identification and reduction of the risks and hazards associated with patient care.
