CDC awards $24 million for flu preparedness projects

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has awarded $24 million towards pandemic influenza preparedness projects. The funding will go towards 55 different projects across 29 states.
The projects focus on such areas as electronic laboratory data exchange to support monitoring influenza pandemics, collaborative planning among healthcare providers to ensure delivery of essential services during a pandemic, and distribution and dispensing of antiviral drugs to self-isolated or quarantined people during a pandemic.
