AHRQ: Telehealth can improve safety and quality of care

According to a report by the Agency for Health Care Research and Quality (AHRQ), telehealth can improve the safety and quality of care delivered to patients—though implementation can be a major challenge.
Organizations that had received grants in primarily low-income rural areas with high rates of chronic illness found that building telehealth into the existing electronic medical record system provided many benefits when providing care, though technical challenges and failures often led to frustration among patients and caregivers, the report states.
