Report suggests single rooms should be norm at all hospitals

New hospitals should be built using single rooms for patients, according to a report in the Journal of the American Medical Association.

The report suggests that single-bed rooms offer a range of benefits, from reducing infections like methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) to increasing privacy during physician-patient discussions. However, single-bed rooms increase construction costs for new facilities.
