CMS: California hospital puts patients in 'immediate jeopardy'

Anaheim General Hospital has been cited by both CMS and The Joint Commission for inadequate staffing and poor medical care, the Los Angeles Times reports.

CMS cited the hospital for not having life-saving medications available, insufficient food or water in the event of a major emergency, and issues with safety surrounding psychiatric patients.

The Joint Commission, in a separate report, found 47 safety deficiencies at the hospital, including inadequate procedures for preventing healthcare-associated infections and poorly inspected medical equipment. The findings by both organizations have put the hospital at risk for loss of funding.
