Electronic record a challenging transition

A Florida doctor speaking on behalf of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons warned the House Committee on Small Business last week of the challenges involved in transitioning to electronic medical records, the Bradenton Herald reports.
Bradenton (FL) neurosurgeon Phillip Tally, MD, of Manatee Memorial Hospital listed physicians’ resistance to change as well as time and cost as factors which make the crossover difficult. He advocated legislation providing financial assistance and incentives as possible methods for improving the transition for hospitals.
