Hospital investigated for employee criminal records
Accreditation Connection, July 25, 2008
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors is investigating Martin Luther King Jr.-Harbor Medical Center for failures that allowed problem employees to continue to work at the facility, violating county policies, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The Times had reported recently that the county had not completely tracked employees at a hospital in Willowbrook, CA, which closed its in-patient services following years of medical errors leading to patient deaths. Because of this lack of tracking, it is now impossible to determine if appropriate disciplinary action was taken for problem employees at that facility, or where these employees are currently employed at other facilities in the county.
It was recently discovered that 17 employees of King-Harbor had committed serious crimes or lied about their criminal histories.
The complete Times story can be found here.
