GAO: Many major gaps in state pandemic flu plans
Accreditation Connection, July 25, 2008
The Government Accountability Office (GAO) found “many major gaps” in the pandemic flu plans at the state level. According to the GAO’s report, the most problematic areas involved conforming to requirements for national response plans and national incident management systems, as well as preparing for medical surge capacity.
The report urges for additional work on the part of the Department of Health and Human Services and the Department of Homeland Security to assist states in meeting these requirements.
The complete GAO report can be found online here.
