Accreditation Connection, July 18, 2008
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City has joined the growing ranks of insurers who will not reimburse hospitals for key preventable medical errors, the Kansas City Business Journal reports.
As of October 1, the insurer will cease reimbursement for eight “never events” including objects left inside the patient, use of wrong blood type during transfusions, pressure ulcers, and urinary tract infections associated with catheters.
