Florida aims to cut down on hospital readmissions
Accreditation Connection, July 3, 2008
The state of Florida has announced that in an effort to prevent avoidable hospital readmissions, preventable hospital readmission figures will be publicly reported, the Florida Sun-Sentinel reports.
Seven percent of Florida patients, after hospitalization for certain conditions, were readmitted within 15 days. The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration has created a committee who will, within a year, come up with proposed methods for cutting back on avoidable readmissions.
Figures for avoidable hospital readmission can be found online here.
