Massachusetts insurer to no longer pay for medical errors

According to policies announced simultaneously last week, hospitals and physicians will no longer be able to bill medical errors to the state of Massachusetts or its largest insurer, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Massachusetts, the Boston Globe reports.

Neither the state nor the insurer will reimburse for costs incurred when fixing a medical error, such as wrong site surgery or medication errors. This policy applies to 28 different types of surgical and medication errors.
