Cost of quality reporting too high, hospital group says

Accreditation Connection, June 13, 2008

The Premiere Healthcare Alliance, which represents some 2,000 hospitals nationwide, has said that the cost of quality reporting—requiring proprietary tools, methods, or information—is too costly.

The organization sent a letter to CMS objecting to public quality reporting that would require these proprietary tools and methods.

The letter states that the use of such sources, available only through private organizations, would also slow the rollout of electronic medical records and be too costly for hospitals to bear.
