New measure set available for ORYX requirements

The Joint Commission has announced that accredited hospitals will be allowed to use the hospital-based inpatient psychiatric services measure set in order to meet ORYX requirements beginning October 1, 2008.
The measure set includes:
- Screening at admission for risk of violence, substance abuse, psychological trauma history
- Physical restraint: hours used
- Seclusion: hours used
- Discharged patients on multiple antipsychotic medications
- Discharged patients on multiple antipsychotic medications with appropriate justification
- Plans of care created post-discharge
- Plans of care created post-discharge provided to the next healthcare provider at the time of discharge
