Maine clinic receives Joint Commission's first COPD certification
Accreditation Connection, May 22, 2008
The Joint Commission has certified its first organization with its Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) Certification Program. Easy Breathing Clinic, LLC, of Augusta, ME, is the first organization in the country to receive the certification.
The Joint Commission’s COPD program was developed with the American Lung Association as part of its Disease-Specific Care Certification program. The COPD standards, developed by both organizations, were created by an expert task force, which also worked to develop a survey process and performance measurement requirements.
The COPD standards, as well as additional information on the program, are available here.
