Joint Commission looks at consumer healthcare decision-making
Accreditation Connection, May 16, 2008
The Joint Commission has undertaken a study to examine consumers’ use of available quality data when making healthcare decisions.
The study, which is being partially funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, will attempt to find ways for consumers to have a better understanding of publicly available quality data, as well as how to use this information to make better, more informed decisions about their healthcare.
The results of the 18-month study will be shared with organizations, both public and private, which provide electronic hospital quality information.
