Research report addresses meeting diverse patient needs

Accreditation Connection, May 16, 2008

The Joint Commission’s latest update to the Hospitals, Language, and Culture project recommends multiple solutions for meeting the needs of diverse patient populations.

The study, which explores how hospitals can meet diverse patient needs, finds that there is no one solution for working through challenges with culturally and linguistically diverse patient populations. The report recommends methods for identifying patient needs, bringing staff together to address cultural and language issues, and means to implement and align methods to deal with diverse patient populations.

The report is available as a download, and can be found here.
