NH provider allows physicians access to electronic medical records via mobile phones
Accreditation Connection, May 16, 2008
In an effort to expand its e-prescribing program, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Hampshire announced last week it will allow physicians access to patient electronic medical records via cell phones, Healthcare IT News reports.
The provider’s e-prescribing program also allows physicians to access electronic medical records from home or office computers.
Although Anthem believes this access will provide up-to-the-minute information about patient status to physicians, other organizations, such as the Washington, DC-based Electronic Privacy Information Center urge caution when dealing with electronic medical records.
