Better health IT leads to fewer hospital visits by office-based physicians

A Centers for Disease Control and Prevention survey reports that fewer office-based physicians are making hospital visits.

According to the report, The National Ambulatory Medical Care Survey, from 2003-2004 the use of clinical health information technology increased 46%, and computerized prescription order-entry increased 92%. Since 2001, these physicians are also making 26% less hospital visits.
