Risks increase for overnight/weekend cardiac patients Hospital patients who suffer cardiac arrest after 11 p.m. are 5% more likely to die as a result of the attack than those who have an identical attack during the day, according to a New York Daily News report.

According to a recent study by the Journal of the American Medical Association, 15% of patients who suffered cardiac arrest between, 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. survived, vs. 20% of patients whose attacks occurred between 7 a.m. and 11 p.m. The study did not discuss the reasons behind the difference in survival rates.
