Five Florida hospitals targeted by Medicare for quality improvement

Improvements in surgical care are the focus for five Florida hospitals recently named in a recent Medicare study as in need of increased quality, according to the Miami Herald.

The report specifically discusses preparing patients to end preventative antibiotics within 24 hours after surgery at five South Florida-based facilities. Hialeah's Palm Springs General hospital fell short when addressing patient treatment for blood clot prevention for certain surgeries, as well as preventative antibiotics.
