New law for NY state office-based surgery practices
Accreditation Connection, February 8, 2008
With office-based surgical procedures nearly doubling in the last decade, New York state law requires surgery practices to be accredited on or before July 14, 2009.
Either the Joint Commission or two other approved agencies must accredit office-based surgeries to keep up-to-date with the growing amount of complex and invasive procedures now being carried out at doctors' offices.
These new standards will incorporate a wide range of surgical practices. Some of these will include endoscopy suites, plastic surgery practices and urology practices.
