CMS addresses error in HCAHPS preview data
Accreditation Connection, January 25, 2008
CMS informed hospitals that Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) preview survey data posted to QualityNet Exchange late last week contained incorrectly formatted information.
The scores listed for survey questions 19 and 20, dealing with discharge information, had been transposed in the preview report. Example: In the case of national average scores, the preview report reads 74% yes and 26% no, when it should read 26% yes and 74% no.
Corrected reports should be available this week. QualityNet Exchange information can be found here.
