CMS adds hospital-acquired conditions information to Web site

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has added a page to its Web site additional information describing reporting and coding of hospital-acquired conditions.
The chart, available here, describes three different categories of conditions, first introduced in the Inpatient Prospective Payment System Final Rule in August that, when present, trigger a higher payment as either a complicating condition or major complicating condition.
