Adenovirus infection manifests in three states
Accreditation Connection, November 30, 2007
According to a report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), four states have reported outbreaks of a virus that can lead to severe respiratory illness.
Clusters of patients have been found with the adenovirus in Texas, Washington, and Oregon, as well as a fatal case involving a 12-day-old infant in New York. Controlling the adenovirus can be a significant challenge for hospitals, because it can live on surfaces for weeks at a time.
