Columbia University researchers have found evidence that physicians may be ordering too many CT scans, opening patients to an increased risk of cancer, according to the Wall Street Journal.

According to the researchers' report, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, physicians are underestimating the cancer risks associated with CT scan radiation. The report concludes that in the future up to 2% of cancer cases in the United States would be caused by the use of CT scans.
